Think ‘Stag Do’ and for many people the image that immediately springs to mind is of a group of wayward, boozed up blokes enjoying a night of riotous, unrestrained revelry.
Gathering the lads together for a night on the town and planning the mother of all knees ups might well be the answer, particularly if you like the idea of facing a brutal hangover and are happy to retain only a vague recollection of your ‘good bye’ to bachelorhood, but here at Bash, we like to encourage you to think a bit differently.
More often, we’re finding that discerning Stags (and enlightened Hens) are actually searching for something else. Something extraordinary or more original. And that’s why we’re so pleased to introduce you to our friend Mark Reid, who invites you to experience some breathtaking heights on an altogether WILD weekend where you’ll camp overnight beside a mountain lake before waking up to watch the sun rise spectacularly across the summits and eat breakfast at 2,000-ft!
As well as being a qualified Mountain Leader and one of the UK’s leading experts on country pubs and long distance walks, Mark has written 17 successful walking guide books, including the acclaimed ‘Inn Way’ series. Three of his books have been awarded the ‘Travel Book of the Week’ in the Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday and The Guardian. Mark is currently featured on ITV Yorkshire’s ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’ monthly TV walks series along with ITV’s weatherman Jon Mitchell, and was recently featured on ITV1’s ‘The Dales’.
A wild camping weekend includes;
10am – Meet Mark at a village cafe to discuss the expedition.
11am – Set off on your walk into the mountains, taking in classic routes and breath-taking summits, with plenty of rest stops as well as environmental and navigation coaching.
6pm – Set up camp and have dinner, followed by a night walk to watch the sunset from a mountain summit.
7am – Breakfast and break down camp.
9am – Continue your walk across the mountains.
Mid afternoon – Finish back at a pub or cafe for drinks and a bite to eat, before heading home.
We can recommend places to stay before and after your expedition.
