An unknown Author once wrote ‘Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away’.
I can tell you that I experienced a few such moments recently, as I witnessed my very good friends, Lauren and Gyles, say ‘I do’ in the idyllic North Yorkshire village of Burnsall.
Both keen cyclists and lovers of the great outdoors, they selected an exquisite venue. Nestled in the hillside against a backdrop of some of the most beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, the couple were married in St Wilfrid’s church, before celebrating with their closest friends and family at the Devonshire Fell.
Following champagne and canapés served on the terrace, guests enjoyed a delicious meal, during which we were entertained with an outstanding performance by professional swing singer, Richard Daniels.
Passionate about his music, Richard performed an array of classics, including Sinatra songs such as ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ and ‘Mack the Knife’, along with some more contemporary numbers made popular by Michael Buble, such as ‘All of Me’ and ‘You’re Nobody Until Somebody Loves You’, and others made famous by Nat King Cole, Sammy Davies and Dean Martin.
Before long, Richard’s captivating performance resulted in numerous guests and members of the wedding party getting up to dance and join in! Of all the breathtaking, beautiful moments bundled into the day, I think the sight of Lauren’s smiling face as she sang alongside Richard will stay with me forever. It was the perfect prompt to shine a swingtastic spot light on Richard and is the reason why we’re naming him this week’s Super Supplier!
Introduced to swing music at an early age, Richard’s interest in Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack has become something of an obsession. The swing genre crosses so many boundaries and Richard’s easy style and smooth vocals suit it perfectly.
‘Swing Music was a genre I turned to in my early 20’s. I was a part time nightclub DJ and after a night of House and Pop music, I would drive home to Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack. My interest developed from there until it became something of an obsession! Now I have The Rat Pack and Michael Buble on in my car permanently!’ says Richard.
There are many factors which set Richard apart from his competition; having sourced extremely high quality authentic big band backing music, painstakingly collected to ensure the most fantastic big band sound, Richard uses state of the art PA equipment manufactured by Bose, so you can always be assured of the highest quality sound. It’s hardly surprising that audiences get such a buzz out of seeing Richard perform.
Whilst he never strays too far from the swing genre, Richard often mixes things up to encourage everyone to connect with his performance – hence the introduction of swing versions of songs by The Killers, Bon Jovi, Oasis and other more contemporary artists.
Richard is available to perform at a wide variety of events, private parties and weddings. For more information or to make a booking, simply call 07561 107888 or e-mail helen@your-bash.co.uk
‘Richard gave a performance at our wedding in September 2011. We were absolutely delighted. He created a wonderful atmosphere during the meal, with guests singing and dancing along and even getting up to join him! His voice and style is perfect and our friends and family have not stopped talking about him. Having him sing for the first dance made it perfect, and I would not hesitate to recommend him for weddings, parties and corporate events. Thank you Richard!’ Lauren and Gyles
Best Wishes,
